Hello, Harvest Community!
This week we wanted to give you an inside look at what we have growing in the greenhouse this winter. During the winter we definitely start to slow down a little on the farm, but our greenhouse crops continue to thrive. This year we planted an array of winter crops from lush leafy greens to hearty root vegetables.
First, we are going to start with the garden beds we have outside and then we will work our way inside the greenhouse. Outside our washroom we have seven raised beds with our cold hardy cilantro growing. They are little sprouts at the moment, but in a couple months you will start to see Misty Moon grown cilantro in your Weekly CSA bags.
Now moving inside the greenhouse we have Romaine, Arugula, Mixed Lettuce, Golden Beets, Turnips, Kale, Mustard Greens, Swiss Chard, Calendula and Carrots. During the fall and winter much of our produce goes to our wholesale customers. We supply delicious local produce to multiple restaurants in the DFW area. However, you may have seen some of our leafy greens pop up in your CSA bags. We have an abundance of Kale, Lettuce and Swiss chard that make their way into the weekly CSA share often.
Harvest community members are always welcome to come and take a peek in the greenhouse, although tours have been put on pause due to Covid-19. We look forward to showing you around the farm once it is safe for us to all be together again.
Happy Growing!
