September 2, 2015

As the summer is coming to a close, we asked our summer readers to share their experience in the Harvest Summer Reading Program. Below is an interview submitted by Leland (age 10) and Andrew (age 6).

What did you read?
Leland: The Book Report from the Black Lagoon, Nate the Great and the Big Sniff, SpongeBob SquarePants, Put me in the Zoo
Andrew: The Foot Book, Hop on Pop, The Best Teacher Ever, Put me in the Zoo, Diggers

Why did you read it?
Leland: I read those books because they were easy for Andrew and me.
Andrew: I read those books because Leland could help me become a better reader.

Where did your read?
We read at the Farmhouse and Andrew’s house.

What was your most favorite part?
Leland: My favorite part was reading the books that I brought such as SpongeBob, Nate the Great and Put me in the Zoo.
Andrew: My favorite was reading Diggers because I like to feel the textures of the duck and the dog.

What was your least favorite part?
Leland: My least favorite part stopping my video game so I can go to reading.
Andrew: My least favorite part was stopping my movie so I can read with Leland.

What would you do different?
Leland: We would meet at Starbucks instead and get a Frappuccino.
Andrew: I would spend more time talking with Leland.

How do you feel about your reading experience?
Leland: I feel that it’s OK.
Andrew: At the beginning, I thought eh and now I think it’s kinda cool.

Would you recommend the reading program to other kids?
Yes if they like reading and if they don’t then they should try it.

Do you want to keep reading together?
Yes, we do.

Any other comments?
Leland: It was fun!
Andrew: It was interesting and inspiring.
